Promoting the transfer of IT and information security technology between science and industry since 1999

Founded in 1999, Eurobits is the European Competence Centre for Security in Information Technology. The only one of its kind in Europe, this alliance of leading research institutes, established companies and young growth enterprises focuses primarily on collaboration and transfer between science and industry in the field of IT and information security.

Interdisciplinarity and a dovetailing of research and practical applications are what distinguish Eurobits. Its principle objective is to combine international cutting-edge university research with world-class training and further education, then enabling technology companies and start-ups to put this considerable know-how to commercial use.
The foundation and subsequent growth of eurobits have been in large part due to the personal support of the company Dr.- Ing. E.h. Horst Görtz.

2017 will see the annual „Eurobits Excellence Award“ presented for the first time. Accompanied by a cash prize of €1,000, the award will acknowledge an academic thesis of both scientific excellence and high practical relevance for applications in the field of IT security and/or information security.

We look forward to sharing ideas with you and welcome collaboration with other high-quality companies operating in related fields.
