The centre uniquely links all the working groups at RUB that are active in the field of computer science. The Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB) is strengthening computer science and has bundled all computer science activities under the umbrella of the newly founded Center of Computer Science (CCS). The centre uniquely links all the working groups at RUB active in the field of computer science and computer science and is jointly supported as a scientific institution by the Faculty of Mathematics and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology. It combines the research strength of excellent basic research and cutting-edge application fields.

The CCS members cover a broad field of modern computer science with their research and teaching. In particular, the focus is on core areas such as algorithms, distributed systems, database systems, software engineering, machine learning or IT security. The world-renowned Horst Görtz Institute for IT Security (HGI) is also part of the centre. Through innovative and modern study programmes in the field of computer science, we train top-class young professionals. English-language courses, foreign guest lecturers and international exchange programmes promote internationality. Technology transfers, networking with industry and an active role in the region and beyond are writ large!
