The Max Planck Institute for Security and Privacy researches and develops the foundations and interdisciplinary aspects of cybersecurity and data protection.

The Max Planck Institute for Security and Privacy was founded in 2019 and serves as a centre of excellence for basic research and for training the next generation of scientific leaders in cybersecurity and data protection. Research ranges from the theoretical foundations of modern security to cryptographic methods and software and hardware security. In addition, interdisciplinary issues that consider the roles of people and society in IT security play a central role. The institute is currently under construction and will employ more than 200 scientists when it is completed.
