The Center for Advanced Internet Studies (CAIS) promotes the active shaping of social, political, economic and cultural change triggered by digitalisation. It sees itself as a place of innovative interdisciplinary research and as a source of impulses for a critical public that wants to come to an understanding about guiding principles for a self-determined life in a digital society.

Upon application, the CAIS supports innovative projects that deal with the social opportunities and challenges of the digital transformation and develop perspectives for practice. The funding programme is basically open to all disciplines and areas of investigation as well as to basic research and application-oriented projects. Decisive for funding are excellence, topicality, social relevance and interdisciplinary connectivity of the projects.

CAIS’s own research projects, which it conducts together with various partners, address central issues of digitisation and contribute to the development of constructive design concepts.
